Simple Old School Healing Spell

Posted by Mother Moon on June 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM

This is actually an old Romanian Traveler ritual that has been adapted to fit modern times. It can be used for all kind of healing - illness, depression, mental illness, grief - you name it.

This ritual should be done in the very early morning just after the sun has risen.

Supplies:

* Light blue votive or chime candle - unscented

* A new sewing needle, hat pin or stick pin in the package - I like to use stick pins with the pearls on top. If you don’t have a new one, take an old one, clean it up, wrap it in tin foil and place in the freezer overnight.

* Table salt

* 1 cup of rain, spring, creek or lake water

* Bowl

* A safe place to burn your candle - I like to use tinfoil on a plate because you will have to gather the wax afterward

* A handkerchief, cloth napkin or washcloth

*Wax cord, string, twine or ribbon in a white or light color

Prior to the ritual, you should have the afflicted sleep with or at least hold the cloth you’ve chosen. It should be something that is not sentimental or expensive because you won’t be getting it back after the ritual. It should be new or at least clean.

In the old days, the practitioner / traveler would gift the client with a handkerchief to take home to their sick loved one. They would then use it to dab the sick one’s forehead, wipe spittle, etc. The following morning, at dawn, the client would then bring it back to be used in the spell.

Though this is the ideal way of using the cloth you choose, sleeping with it or holding it for a while will work as well.

The idea of the cloth is that it absorbs the sickness.

Steps:

 1. Place one cup of your fresh, natural water into the bowl that you’ve chosen.

2. Take 1 teaspoon of table salt and mix it with the water. Stir it with your right pointer finger.

3. Take your candle and cleanse it with the salt water - hold the candle in your left hand and scoop the salt water over it 7 times with your right.

4. Allow to air dry on the handkerchief, napkin or whatever it is that you’ve chosen as your cloth.

Once the candle is dry

5. Take your pin and carve into the side of the candle the afflicted person’s name. The first letter of the name should start at the top of the candle (wick end). The candle is meant to burn away the sickness so you want the burn to start at the beginning of the persons name as it sybolizes the beginning of the illness.

6. Once the name has been carved, find the middle of the person’s name and pierce the pin as far into the candle as you can and leave it there.

Example:

CATHY - the middle of this name would be the T so the pin would be inserted into the center of the T.

DENISE - the middle of this name would be between the N and the I so the pin would be inserted between those 2 letters.

The pin symbolizes a stopping point - the place where the illness stops and the healing begins.

7. Now place your candle onto the plate - light it and allow it to burn until it goes out on its own.

Be careful now that you do not read into how long the candle burns or what the wax looks like when it’s done. Though how long the candle burns can sometimes indicate how serious the illness is OR how long it will take to a full recovery, this is not always the case.

Ideally we like to see the candle burn down completely or at least past the pin but that doesn’t always happen. Do NOT relight your candle if you feel its gone out too soon.

Once the candle is out and the wax has hardened, gather it all up and wrap it into the handkerchief. If you've used tinfoil, toss it in the trash.

Tie your bundle up with the string and bury it close to the afflicted person’s home - a garden or other place where you can see that there is growth is the ideal place.

The salt water should be disposed of outside, away from your bundle but still near the sick one's home.

As with any spell, your intent, emotions and focus play an important part of the ritual so make sure that you go into this spell with healing and renewal on your mind.

Yes, you could use healing oil to dress the candle after its dry - and yes, from wick down:)

Can you add SE healing oil to this spell? If so, I would assume you dress it wick down to draw sickness away? Thanks!!!
