Some Facts on Salt

Posted by Mother Moon on October 7, 2014 at 8:35 PM

Did you know that salt is one of the world’s strongest conductors of energy?

Yep, it’s true!

Salt also pulls and absorbs energy from its surroundings.

We use salt in ritual bath’s to not just cleanse ourselves of negative energy but also to balance our personal energy. Like I said above, salt pulls energy from its surroundings so it can aid in removing bad energy while replenishing it with good energy.

Practitioners can actually charge salt with a specific energy for later use. It is as easy to pull that energy back out of the salt as it is to fill it! Salt can hold energy for a long time.

Did you know when you use salt in a circle that you can actually be doing more harm than good to your spellwork?

By completely surrounding yourself with salt, the salt will not only absorb energy from the circle, it will also absorb all of the energy you put forth while you’re inside of it!

Never keep salt on your altar for extended periods of time as it will absorb the present energy and make any energy/power source on your altar less effective.

Salt cannot protect you from everything. It’s important that you remember that.

Many entities are not at all harmed or made uncomfortable by salt. Fae, Dragons, Djinn, and many more. Don’t go into conjuration or summoning thinking because you have a bowl of salt handy that you’re protected!

Now you're getting complicated lol.

For what we are talking about here, Salt, no matter where it comes from, all holds the same metaphysical properties.

There is unrefined salt and refined salt.
Unrefined is sea salt, real salt, Celtic sea salt, Himalayan salt and many others.
Refined salt is what you see in the grocery store. Its table salt.

People that market Himalayan salt try to say that it has like 80 more different types of minerals than other types of unrefined salt. If that were true, that would definitely make some kind of a difference. However, experts who have analyzed the different types of salts have found that they're all nearly identical!

Refined salt, aka table salt, is harvested by machines and its treated to remove all of the minerals.
Even though its different, the properties we're talking about here pertain to salt, not the minerals.

The minerals matter most when it comes to foods and healthy living. Experts say that unrefined salt is easier for the body to digest and healthier too.

Most practitioners use unrefined salt because it seems to be a more logical choice when you think about it. We want our spellwork to be as natural as possible. Because the unrefined salt is natural, it is the most commonly used when it comes to magical work. That said, table salt will do in a pinch!

What about different kinds of salt? I bought a beautiful amethyst crystal and the healer who cleared it for me said to put the crystal in sea salt OR Himalayan pink salt. No typical table salt is good enough apparently for my crystal to reset or whatever its called.

I've been swimming in the ocean with entities and amulets and have never had any ill effects. However, I think if you were in the water for an extended period of time it could possibly do some damage.
Also, salt water can damage gemstones so its a good idea to take all of your jewelry off before going into the ocean anyway.
